GERD Elimination Diet – Day 6

Today we went grocery shopping and I was able to get some quinoa and rice noodles so that I don’t have to eat brown rice all the time! I also got a variety of fruits and vegetables. There was no oat milk so I had to get almond milk instead but I’ll manage. I got macadamias and pistachios so that I have more nut options. I also got a probiotic to take for just a few weeks until I can start eating more foods again. I read that they can help with heartburn and may make it easier to get through the rebound acid reflux I am likely to get as I come off the proton pump inhibitors. Anyway, we will see.

Breakfast

Oats, oat milk, cinnamon, vanilla, cashew butter and raspberries. I bought fresh ones but I froze them since I want to make sure they last.

About 350 calories.

Lunch

I actually didn’t eat breakfast until late today so I only had a small lunch. Leftover turkey meatballs from last night and some strawberries.

About 200 calories.

Dinner

I made quinoa, which I’m not super excited about, but at least it’s different. The brown rice tastes better. I added vegetables and chicken breast I cooked the other day.

A bit over 400 calories.

Snack

Just a handful of macadamias in the afternoon. I purposely went for a calorie-dense snack because I’d eaten so little today.

This was about 200 calories.

Macros

According to the Fitbit app my split today was 33% carbs, 46% fat and 21% protein. Energy levels were okay until the evening, but I woke up early so maybe that’s normal enough. I ate less than 1200 calories today but I’m not hungry.

I have been having a very minor heartburn sensation that comes and goes. I’m kind of wondering if it might not be psychological, since I’m kind of expecting it as I taper off the proton pump inhibitors. I guess I’ll see; I’m planning for my last dose to be tomorrow.
